Golf
Golf on the Costa del Sol is second to none in the world. From a 9 hole in La Cala to the Championship 18 hole course in Valderrama and everything else in between. |

Mijas Golf boasts two terrific designs laid out by Robert Trent Jones. |
| Los Lagos Los Lagos, the original course built in the mid-1970s, is a flat, long
championship course with water hazards and large greens. Enjoyable for
long hitters but also accommodating to those with a slice. Wide fairways
with little rough means Mijas has become the most successful commercial
course on the Costa del Golf. |
| Los Olivos Los Olivos recently underwent extensive renovation to bring the course back to its prime after 18 years of heavy usage. This included new irrigation systems, and a redefinition of greens to USGA standards. |
| El Chaparral The most stunning aspects of El Chaparral are the plantations of pine trees which are so tall they seem to touch the sky. On every hole these superb specimens gaze down as if in contempt at the efforts of those playing below. Nowhere is beyond their view: it is as if the course was hewn out of a pine forest, and maybe it was. |

| Calanova Golf Course This course lies in Mijas’ golf valley between the sea and the Sierra de Mijas mountain range. It has magnificent panoramic views across the rolling countryside from nearly all holes, and is especially challenging to medium handicap players. It has been constructed to USGA standards with regard to the tees, drainage, bunkers and greens.

Cabopino Golf Course Inaugurated in April 2001. 18 holes with a par of 71 laid out by little-known Spanish architect Juan Ligues is short but very tight in places.

| La Noria Golf Course This course lies in Mijas’ golf valley between the sea and the
Sierra de Mijas mountain range. It is situated between Fuengirola and
Marbella. |
| La Duquesa Golf Course La Duquesa Golf Course is a typical Trent Jones layout demanding concentration and straight driving.
| Miraflores Golf Course Miraflores is both beautiful and challenging, especially for those who
enjoy their golf with elevated greens and water. Located in the hills above Mijas Costa it offers breathtaking views
of the countryside down to the sea. The course has a number of elevated
greens which require some tough walking so a buggy is often a good idea.
The 18th green is tricky with severe slopes. Watch out for the 15th hole,
where water forms a moat around the green. |

| Torrequebrada Golf Course Since it first opened in 1976 this Pepe Gancedo masterpiece has been
recognised as one of the most beautiful courses on the Costa del Golf.
Here, the tee shot is of prime importance. A wild drive and all may be
lost as trees, woods, rough, bunkers and water are all very much to the
fore. Should you be tempted to confuse short length with ease of play,
the third hole - only 80 metres to a long and narrow contoured green -
will soon disabuse you of this notion. |

| Santana Golf Course This modern golf course is approx. 6300 metres long. It is situated at Puerto de Santa Maria in the bay of Cadiz.

| The Golf Club Marbella Once very private but now open to visitors, The Golf Club Marbella is a difficult but enjoyable challenge.
| Valderrama Golf Club Jeev Singh, wins the 2006 Volvo Masters at Valderrama Golf Club, Sotogrande October 2006 .
| Santa Maria Golf Course “Santa Maria Golf & Country Club”, as the name suggests,
is far more than a Golf Club. Based around an 18th century “cortijo”
which is currently the Club House, the grounds boast stunning gardens
and fine leisure facilities including tennis and lawn bowling. |
